STELLA WHITEHOUSE
LUCIA Stella studied with Jean Allister, vocal consultant with Opera North Leeds, and Nicholas Powell. She has won: the NODA Opera Cup in 2000 for the Part of Leonora (La Traviata), Preston Opera, “Best Female Vocalist” at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera, Ireland, in 1993, 1998 and 1999 and ''Best Female Voice' at the International G & S Festival, Buxton in 1994. In 1997 she joined the newly Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company as a guest soloist, performing at the Zeilerbach Theatre, San Francisco, as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Yum-Yum in The Mikado, working alongside such well known names as Gillian Knight, and Valerie Masterson, and others from the original D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and of the new G & S Company. She also performed alongside them at the G & S Festival, Buxton in 1997, also taking part in a concert with Richard Baker and Jerry Jarrett as ''Mr Gilbert and Mr. Sullivan”, and finally appearing for the BBC ''Songs of Praise'' programme with Michael Rayner and John Reed. She took the part of the Countess in our recent production of The Marriage of Figaro.
